The Orevita - Vanju Mare vineyards belong to the Mehedinti region, well-known for the production of top quality wines, especially red ones. Due to their position in the most southern part of the country and thanks to the influence of the Mediterranean climate and proximity of the Danube, the vines covering the Mehedinti hills have always produced the highest quality wines, which have been extremely well appreciated. Climatic data show that this is a place where an important number of temperature degrees and a lot of sunny hours are to be found, thus providing good conditions for ripening and synthesis in the berries of certain compounds with a great oenological value, among which the most important are the saccharides and the anthocyanins. In this area the sun always shines upon the entire vineyard, actually beaming upon it and the soil is the so-called "red clay" - most adequate for producing high quality wines.
